Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the development of weekly employee schedules by efficiently analyzing staffing requirements for each event
  • Ensuring function rooms are set according to event documentation (Banquet Event Orders, resumes, etc.) and customer requirements
  • Work side by side with the team during peak periods to regulate the flow of events and to address any opportunities for improvement
  • Following the terms of our Hotel’s Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Conducts banquet room function inspections prior to each event to ensure the room is set according to specifications
  • Developing close and effective working relationships with all supporting departments, achieving success through the collective knowledge
  • Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures
  • Handling any guest complaints or contentious issues that cannot be settled directly by team members and provides a fast and effective solution
  • Training, Coaching, and performance management of banquet’s staff on an ongoing basis
  • Leading and guiding Banquet Captains to ensure appropriate coordination of events
  • Attending hotel training programs as needed
  • Ensuring that all Health & Safety standards are met, procedures followed, and that colleagues have the correct knowledge and tools to work safely.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years Food & Beverage experience
  • Minimum of 1 year management experience in a banquets environment
  • Previous experience managing in a Unionized environment strongly preferred
  • Proficient in all Microsoft office applications
  • Degree or Diploma in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related field considered an asset
